  • Peter Paul Rubens 1577 – 1640, The Abduction of Ganymede, 1611 – 1612

This is a stunning work by Rubens that works perfectly as a pocket square and a real star of our Rubens collection. It tells the story of the abduction of Ganymede, a shepherd and the son of Tros, a legendary king of Troy. According to Ovid, the god Jupiter was amazed by Ganymede's beauty and so, having transformed himself into an eagle, carried the youth off to Olympus where he made him his cup-bearer.

The wonderful thing about printed paintings on pocket squares is that they can produce a number of different effects depending on how they are folded and creates a great topic for conversation once pulled out of the breast pocket.
